Can I use the PelvicToner during pregnancy

Our operating booklet is quite specific and suggests that the PelvicToner should not be used during pregnancy or until the new mum is 'signed off' by her midwife.

Using the PelvicToner is far less intrusive than having sex during pregnancy but in this litigious age one has to err on the side of caution. However, having said that we have taken counsel with a number of midwives who actually caution against undertaking any form of pelvic floor exercise during pregnancy! For the same reason.

But believe us, you will need it in 6 months time!

If you live in the UK you can get the PelvicToner on prescription and your GP should recommend it in any situation where pelvic floor exercises are appropriate because the clinical trials have clearly demonstrated that it is an excellent alternative to the programme of supervised pelvic floor muscle training that you should get under NICE Guidelines. Don't be fobbed off with a sheet of exercises - that does not constitute supervised pelvic floor muscle training and clinical evidence demonstrates quite clearly that most women get nowhere when told to go away and exercise.

In contrast, the PelvicToner is specifically designed to address the weaknesses in the NHS approach in two key respects. It helps you confidently identify the correct muscles to exercise and makes sure you exercise effectively by giving you something to squeeze. 'Squeezing' thin air never got anyone anywhere!

Again, if you live in the UK you will effectively get the PelvicToner for free because, as a new mum, you do not pay for prescriptions on presentation of a Maternity Exemption Certificate.
